Object Episodes was born out of a desire to have a searchable, and easily accessible body of knowledge through conversations from the juggling community.
Since IJDB shut down years ago, this main portal to the central discussions at rec.juggling proved its relevance in its absence when traffic on rec. dwindled to practically nothing. Though other sites tried to fill this void by presenting a new interface to access rec.juggling, or have formed communities elsewhere, there fails to be a singular cohesive forum that rivals the former success the IJDB achieved. The fragmentation of the community, through numerous Facebook groups (JugglingRock vs. Juggling Home vs. Juggling in Europe vs. etc. etc.) is a tricky navigation of politics and cross-posting. While Object Episodes may certainly be just another whisper in the roar of online noise, the attempt here is to unite our relatively small community instead of dividing it into even smaller pieces.
Facebook is a barrier of entry for many object manipulators, and though it currently contains some of the healthiest levels of communication, it is not searchable in the way this forum software is. With much respect to independent forums such as The Juggling Edge, The WJF, and Anthony's Juggling Talk, the goal of Object Episodes is to provide a consistent place to collect thoughts and content- the platform is mobile friendly and easily incorporates links, photos, and videos. Special thanks to Brian Crabtree and Erik Åberg for help and advice in setting this up.
